The biggest problem with many of our problems is they are very long term. This leads to denial or at least kicking the can down the road until it's too late. Water, top soil, climate, age demographics, Hubbert peaks....

this is why the declining birth rate is a good thing. the population will naturally sort itself out. idk why people are freaking out over it. Yeah for like 1-2 generations there will be more old people than not and that’s tough but it’ll even out again.

A single 1,000 sq ft lawn might though inefficient practices can push usage to 75,000+ gallons/year .-. Maybe we focus on water wasted on esthetics first? We need to look at entropy in all systems we can and actually minimize what we can.
