Gracias Google ✊🏽🤎 When I was a sophomore at BYU, I was rejected by every single internship I applied to. I mean… every. single. one. I felt defeated and embarrassed. Was I really going to be the ONLY junior without an internship? And finally, I received my last interview. I practiced until the Googler that was helping me finally said I was ready. After little to no sleep, and so much anxiety, I got an offer that changed my life. I grew up in a poor, immigrant family so something like this felt unreal for someone like me. I felt imposter syndrome signing my offer, on my first day, and over and over again when I got new roles within the company. No matter how much proof I got that I was worthy to be in a place as prestigious as this… the imposter syndrome didn’t really go away. And I realize now, on my last day… that when you are breaking the mold, laying down new paths for future generations to walk on… you’ll always feel like an imposter. Because no one else has ever done what you’re about to do. And as painful as it is, this feeling is setting into my body now. It’s the difference between fighting it to feel like you belong versus realizing, you were never meant to belong in the first place… You were meant to stand out. — If you want a job at @google, I have the exact resumes I used to apply to all 3 jobs in my bio.
