Yes he should be paying more than that. Every elevator has that button for emergency call. I got stuck before press the button someone will be talking to you on the other line

When was the last time it had inspection? How old is the building? Was everything up to code? I love it when everyone assumes everything!

not gonna lie, he should used the call button first. he doesnt know how long it would have taken for help to get their for all he knows, it might have been 15 20 minutes. if your first instinct is Destruction of property. then idk

presume he did use the emergancy call, the responders would have done tge exact same thing, force the doors open. and no telling how long they had till it got worse. was it risky? sure. but it was a solution, and it worked. end of story.

I love how I read most go no say if it was up to code he shouldnt. but even if it wasnt was inspect or was up to code. its machinery everything malfunction. but people never ask this how long did he sit there. what was a good reason to make the decision. but he did put his self and his family at risk and property damage. nothing would have happened but being sitting there unless you where pass the over weight limit there was nothing to worry but hit the button. I can't agree to either side yet but if he just forced open the door without waiting and no actual good reason than he should pay the law suite.
