Replying to @C0774c4st13y I started writing this response when everything first happened, but I finally finished it. I'm posting it here instead of feeding into the comments. I can't even make or take phone calls (haven’t been able to for over a year now) because of the amount of cognitive energy they require in the moment. Before I even knew I had ME, I had already been diagnosed with dysautonomia and LC. I received workplace accommodations, but they still weren't enough. I was barely able to work, and eventually I lost my job. To give anyone a clearer picture: what was I doing outside of work besides few appts? I was in bed. I was so lethargic that sometimes no one could wake me. Sometimes I couldn't even get out of bed or move. Welcome to post-exertional malaise (PEM), the hallmark symptom of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis a devastating, disabling neuroimmune disease recognized with the ICD-10 code G93.32. A short time later, I was diagnosed with severe ME. I had to drive myself to that appointment. But what people don't see is that I spent the remainder of that day in bed, asleep for most of it. And that wasn't unusual that was every single day. Nothing about being disabled is a handout!
