When I was 10 years old we went to Sanibel Island following a big storm, and we found more than a dozen scotch bonnets. There was a 4 foot deep wall of shells along the shoreline, and shells just kept washing in with the waves one after the next.

I saw a video about how when everyone takes the shells on the beach hermit crabs can’t find any so they end up wearing plastic caps 😭 not to say you can’t take a souvenir, but just everyone be mindful of how much you take!
