While federal laws outlawed legal segregation (de jure) decades earlier, Mississippi was effectively the last state with significant resistance, seeing its final school district, Cleveland, officially ordered to desegregate by a federal judge in 2016, after a 50-year legal battle following the Brown v. Board of Education ruling. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended mandated segregation in public places, but de facto segregation persisted, especially in schools, with many Southern districts delaying integration for years. I’ve heard stories like hers from the people from the deep south so I don’t know about the north. I just know in the south you still gotta be careful.

As a military brat who grew up outside of the US most of my life moved back to the US at 14 (moved away at 6). The racism I saw here at a pretty normal place was overwhelming. I hated my first year back. I am white. This happened in the. 80’s. If you’ve grown up in the US you don’t see it in your every day life because it’s just the way it is. I don’t question her experiences because I hear what goes on in rooms where white racist think they are safe from consequences of their BS. Pam Grier is 76 years old. You forget the crap that went down historically in the 50’s/60’s. It’s wild that you are asking for her to prove it. If you paid attention to history in school you wouldn’t need proof.
