I started cross stitching during the covid lockdowns and it really helped my mental health and made me feel better 💛

My depression and anxiety have been driving me nuts. I picked up embroidery and cross stitch again and it has helped so much. And I’m surprisingly good at it, which helps my self esteem

Stitch and Flick 🪡🧵🪄 :
I’ve been struggling with my mental health over the past few months, and had December off work because I was so low. I came back to cross stitch after years and have noticed how much it makes my mind calmer and how much it has helped me

Cross stitch is very mediative and mindful. There’s research that shows that crafting whether it’s cross stitching, painting or drawing, anything creative has such a positive influence on mental health.

I started cross stitching in October. I’m 37 and have a 4 year old disabled child. Cross stitch has really helped me relax in the evening and not doom scroll on my phone

Sally this is so on point. I have been in massive depressive periods throughout my adult life. I’m neurodivergent and have had quite a few shocks or unwanted changes in my life in the past few years. Cross Stitch is one of the few activities I do that completely clears my head. I’m just concentrating on putting the needle and thread in the right place whilst listening to a podcast or audiobook and that’s it. My brain calms down. I get a bigger sense of perspective. I feel more “myself”.

I learned how to cross stitch when I was younger but really got into it during my maternity leave. I would cross stitch during nap time and while pumping. It truly is something I crave nowadays, a great thing to do during my “me time”

I couldn’t agree more. It is my way of escaping and doing something enjoyable.

I have been going through a hard time health wise and marriage of 32 years. We are still the best of friends still living in the house we built. I never thought I would find myself in this position. Your so right about cross stitching. I stopped doing it because of lack of concentration due to my health condition. I did start seeing someone in mental health (best decision). One of the things we talked about was me not doing any cross stitching. I would take it out every day but not touch it. She had me pick it up daily and if I could just do a couple of stitches. I am now back where I was. Yes it is very relaxing and does wonders for your mental health. Thank you so much for your story 😀
