alot of dealers in my area i think want to lock you in early so you don't look else where. Last 2 yrs bought seed in February for same price as 3 months earlier. I'm a STO

Seed dealer here- the pre pay discounts aren’t really a lot different than in season. The difference is locking in your hybrids. Come December, there’s not a lot of good hybrids to chose from.

I tell them what I want in December then pay and pick up in March, if they sell my varieties I picked out. I will walk out and buy some where else. they don't want to lose a customer

Prepay if you got specific varieties you want… if you wait still might get a deal but might not be a the hybrid you want

That’s what I like about sugar beets. It’s a whole different game because there isn’t the games that they can play with varieties and stuff.

Waiting is great and all but there’s a couple dozen hybrids that I work with that are out of stock now so if you wanted them and you wait good luck. Unless I put in a dummy order for you

Pre pay in November or December for the best prices and if you need the expense that year. Otherwise if you need the expense the following year, some companies have a John Deere finance 150 day no payment no interest. Lock in November with that, and pay in full in 2026 before interest is charged. I’ve heard guys say “the don’t run out of seed, wait until April”. No they absolutely do run out of certain hybrids. They can only stock so much.
