India accounts for 50% of all digital transactions made on earth…. All of india pays taxes through other ways like gst on goods and services and taxs on gas and stuff. Income tax is only for the top 2% to push consumption in middle class.

To be fair it’s not worth the effort to tax people who have so little. It’s better to just tax people who have money where it gives a better return for the time and resources needed to collect taxes.

it's all vote politics. They collect sizeable GST tax on almost everything. That means everyone is paying taxes not income tax but a tax nonetheless.

That is false. We pay taxes on everything, and rich people just rob banks and leave the country, leaving others to bear extra burdens.

I will be honest, the country is as if you're making stairs with no base so you'll end up falling one day from height. Wages are not growing, only expenses are increasing, further income here is really less & consider GDP per capita. They justify it as not being a good measure and other good factors should be taken into consideration, but they're themselves running behind competition instead of making their do well happiness index like that in Bhutan.

I still remember when our finance minister increased taxes so much that the whole country started making memes on her and were VERY angry. Honestly it feels like a waste to pay taxes in india when you on a daily basis see it getting wasted due to corruption😮💨

its because our pays suck and we get no social safety benefits from the goverment like health, education and unemployment benefits. only the poorest of the poor have access to these safety nets. the working/middle class gets nothing and we have pay for everything out of pockets.

because india is democracy with almost 30 plus language, around 5 plus religion and each religion have caste based reservation that leads to "appeasement vote bank". Because of this mostly 3/4 gets free food etc from government. so only a small population actually works in sector where tax cannot be hidden. farmers in india have zero income tax
