I think your main issue would be not having a permanent address. This is required for getting sent your pension bills or other types of official documents.

So...I don't think it will be a good idea UNLESS you have permanent residency. It's a pain to have a vehicle anywhere. Japan already has excellent costs on housing and transportation. I hate being a naysayer. I mean, I've lived out of my vehicle before but only for 3 months. So I understand the pros and cons. Unless you have extra cash to burn to convert a truck into something worth living (as you know it's super hot in summer)...and then car wrecks mean you lose not only your transport but your house... Yeah ignoring risks since you're young and single. I guess the biggest issue is money and visa requirements. If money isn't a problem heck you can pay parking anywhere. idk what drinking laws are in japan. and idk how you'll solve the bathroom problem. i mean. yeah you can do it. i guess life isn't about optimizing but more about just trying stuff you feel moved to try within certain bounds. i don't recommend it. I was happy to live in shin ōkubo. 78k a month, 5 minutes walk to shin ōkubo JR line. 5 minute walk to kabukicho. could walk to takadanobaba. idk. i don't see it being an advantage doing this. i need more of your reasoning.

日本の法律ってすぐ変わるんですよー。教習所に行っている間に何月何日までに試験に受からなきゃ運転できる車の大きさが変わるからな！と先生に言われたの思い出しました。よってカイル君も2017年にその免許を持っていなかったのなら3.5トンまでの運転かなぁと思います。普通のトラックよりキャンピングカーはどう？3.5トンまでの車いっぱいあるよ☺️✨

Just rent an address on the edge of Tokyo and bike / cheap car to travel. I moved to Chiba prefecture because I can commute into Tokyo super easily and it’s way cheaper

i think it will be kinda hard to do this. My Idea would be instead to buy an Akiya and renovate it. The initial cost would be low and if bought in rural Japan your interactions with locals will be plenty👍
