$80k is still considered low income(2000-2025). Middle class starts at $360k. For a single person to afford 🇺🇸 they need to gross $135,000-170,000 a year looking at July 2025 to December 2025. Cost of living going up January 2026. I need a raise bcuz gas is going to be $7 a gallon by June 2026. Hybrid cars insurance is unaffordable if I earn $80,000 a year. Car payment is $1,200

found this out the hard way last year. As a salaried person, i was diluting my hourly rate from 75/hr to 45/hr by working over 60+ hours. Never again, if it doesn't fit in my 40 hours then its moving to the next week.

Being a collegiate men’s basketball athletic trainer I made 41k a year working 60-80 hours a week, while on-call 24/7 without overtime. I left the career making 90k a year working 60-80 hours a week, while being 24/7 on call without overtime. No days off for 9 months at a time. That’s the reality of working in collegiate athletics. Now I work at a high school working at a high school doing the same thing, BUT I get overtime and make my own schedule for the most part. Wake up call #athletictrainers
