LOOK: Award-winning actress and Saving Cherry lead star #BarbieForteza @barbaraforteza graced the special advance screening of her movie at Uptown Tempur Cinema 🍒 She was joined by Regal Entertainment COO #KeithMonteverde @k.monteverde. ————— RANDOM REVIEW: If there’s one thing Saving Cherry proves, it’s the range of Barbie Forteza as an actress. She has this natural ability to make you laugh without looking like she’s trying too hard. But what stood out to me was how she handles the emotional scenes. There’s something about Barbie’s expression when her character is about to cry, or already crying, that makes you feel like crying too. Barbie is certainly one of her generation's best actresses! Although Saving Cherry is marketed as a comedy movie, I was surprised by how emotional some scenes were. I can’t say which ones without giving away too much, but there’s definitely more to the film than the laughs. I also liked that the story doesn’t immediately reveal where it’s going. There were moments when I found myself thinking about what kind of ending would make sense for Cherry. In the end, I thought the film justified where it landed, especially with its crazy yet powerful final scene. It also leaves us with conversation starters on marriage, cheating, self-love, friendship, and the non-negotiables in a relationship. The barkada composed of Mikee Quintos, AC Bonifacio, Sassa Gurl, and Mika Salamanca is another part I enjoyed. It was their first time working together in a film, but their dynamic feels natural. You can see the genuine friendship among their characters. And then there’s Khalil Ramos (effective actor!) and Barbie. I wasn’t expecting their chemistry, but it works! There’s a particular kilig moment that stayed with me but let's keep this spoiler-free.😊 I certainly wish to see Barbie and Khalil work together again whether in a rom-com or something more dramatic. There’s something there as onscreen partners. Save the date for Saving Cherry! Catch it in cinemas nationwide starting September 2. 🍒
