I've had someone asking to switch their middle seat for my aisle seat for a long haul from Europe to Asia and they said it's cause they had stomach problems and would need to go to the bathroom constantly. I said no, just wake me up if you need to go. She didn't stand up once during the flight for the bathroom!

Getting other passengers to harass you, I’d look at them, in their 7K business seats, and say “I see it’s so super important to you to have this mother and daughter sit together so I’ll switch seats with you…(a 7K seat for another 7K seat) and then YOU can trade with economy class daughter. Then, everyone will be happy.” Watch how fast they peddle backwards. Then I’d say, “Sorry.” In the most passive aggressive way and advise her not to cheap out on her kid, in the future, if it’s that important to her. Fck people like that.

I'm a former flight attendant and I've seen these kinds of situations many times. And frankly, I would advise against switching seats in general. your name is attached to that seat for the flight. If you happen to switch with someone who happens to give problems to the crew you could get in trouble as crew won't always ask for the boarding pass. they take note of your current seat number than book, you're banned or arrested on arrival. it has happened before

In business i was asked to give up my window and go sit next to a stranger so someone could sit next to her husband. She was in the middle aisle next to me. So I said no I want my seat and then the flight attendant goes to speak to the lady right next to me saying she tried etc… like wtf. You can choose your seat when you book.

So proud of the respectful way in which you answer to the woman! The correct option was for her to a. Give her daughter her seat or b. Ask someone from economy to switch with her and so she could go with her daughter! It doesn’t matter if you pay $1000 or $1000 for a ticket.. it’s your money and if you bought that ticket there must have been a reason
