NEC Section 110.26 requires that electrical panels have a dedicated clear workspace at least 30 inches wide, 36 inches deep, and 6.5 feet high in front of the equipment. This space must remain unobstructed, allowing panel doors to open at least 90 degrees for safe access and maintenance

I mean, he just nailed the boards in. Peel off, some spackle, and good as new. He’s making the space his and will probably stay longer in the unit. 🤷 He’s being responsible and didn’t use adhesive.

Couple pieces of advice, Sand with 220grit before staining plywood helps things look more even, apply a layer of stain then wipe the panel with a cloth to remove the excess and keep things looking more even. stain before assembly and ignore when wood filler says it is stainable I find it always ends up looking darker and more obvious, colour match filler works better in my opinion. Also you could use the same material used to cover the edges to cover the seams in the plywood instead of filling them.

It could be nice to add some more trim to the wall to hide the seams 👌🏻

There’s a thing called “pre-stain” that’ll help with the blotches on the next iteration. Also you wipe stain on, and then wipe off. Don’t apply like paint

Can’t put anything in front of an electrical panel. Also you should put a finish on top of a gel stain especially if you have high traffic areas such as light switches and a cabinet in front of

A nice usb wall sconce with downward light would look really sharp to accent the area as a statement piece.

If the wires are installed properly. Which they most likely were. They’d be untouched by a finish nail

I suggest some wireless sconces with a light amber color. Or Hue LEDs that you can control warmth/ brightness

You need to do long sections when staining can’t just go all over the shop or it looks really bad and especially on pine. Essentially you need to go top to bottom laying off your brush marks
