if you dont explain what a hazard ratio is, its a useless presentation. Thanks for nothing

I was confused, so i had to look it up. heres the reason the x-axis differs for all charts: the x-axis on all charts displays MET hours per week. Every activity has a different MET value. MET value tells us "how many times more calories does this burn compared to doing nothing." Moderate walk burns 3.5x more calories than doing nothing, so its MET value is 3.5. MET hours simply means taking the amount of time spent doing an activity and multiplying that time with its MET value. So the X value 40 for walking in this picture means 40/3.5=11.5 hours of walking a week, or 1.5h per day. But just 20 minutes of walking (5 MET-h/w) a day gets you the same result .

This isn’t raw hours per week it’s MET hours per week. In their online supplement walking is 3, but running is 12. So to get 15 MET hours you need to walk 5 hours but only run 1.25 hours.

Walking seems to be the most bang for the buck.

The fact the x-axes all vary make comparisons at specific x values difficult.

Swimming really surprises me. I wonder if there is some confounding factor in who is swimming that makes it pretty negligible.

this really shows that whether in or out of shape, walking is the most consistently impactful. running and rowing don’t do much unless you do it a ton every week. so go on walks, do some resistance training, and ignore the rest unless you want it to be your hobby/identity.

jogging vs running makes no sense. there is data problem.

I would like to see this broken down by gender and age. My gut tells me that women in menopause need to weight lift more so than walk to combat the bone density loss and muscle loss.

This is not how to present data. It invites comparisons but the axes are not the same. So it encourages misinterpretation.

Curious why cycling has the odd curve that it does - I wonder if it’s due to accidents on the bike or something somatic

I had no idea jogging and running are different things. They look the same to me. Maybe I just don't see anyone running.

Serious question what is the difference between jogging and running? Does this mean like running sprints?

would it be correct to interpret the chart on walking as "there is no benefit to walking more than 6 hours a week, but its also not harmful"
?
