I do not think Frieren is a racist manga, but it lends itself very easily to being co-opted by white supremacists because it is (among other things) very white and the cast is not diverse. Tbf this is a problem that a lot of Japanese media (like AoT) deals with, and it is especially apparent with Frieren bc of its European fantasy-inspired setting and its main character being a cute white-skinned elf girl. The stuff about demon coexistence is just icing on the cake. Before y’all come for me talking about “why does every story need to be diverse”, I’m not saying that every story *needs* diversity I’m just saying that if your story has diverse characters and perspectives it is MUCH less likely to be co-opted by white supremacists.

It's not actually that Frieren is particularly popular among racists. It's just that that group came up with a bit that gets them the attention they feed on, so they've continued to survive even while the rest of the fandom shrinks due to lack of content. As the fanbase is revived by new content you'll see that they're really a small group. You want a show that's actually disproportionately popular among racists, check out K-On.
