@vondecarlo: I used to think kindness, consideration, and doing too much just meant I cared. Turns out… that’s also called “pick-me” behavior. I’ve outgrown people who take without giving. That’s not bitterness, that’s discernment. You don’t have to abandon your “good girl” (or “good guy”) instincts, but you do have to align them with the right people before giving them access. Easier said than done… Getting older doesn’t automatically make you confident. Living intentionally does. And even then, you don’t win every day. Some days, you still waver.
