I don’t see the Pledge as brainwashing. It’s not forcing anyone to think a certain way. it’s just a short statement about shared values like unity, freedom, and justice. You’re not required to believe it or even say it, but for me it’s a way to show respect for the country and the freedoms that let us disagree in the first place.

It's actually crazy how much of an impact one person can have on their community. I joined a group protesting the Prop 4 repeal gatherers at my school today and once my peers saw one of them out protesting, pretty soon a whole little group formed! We were able to teach dozens of people and got quite a few to Decline To Sign! If you feel like there's nothing you can do to fight the insanity right now, just remember that being an example makes more of a difference than you think. ❤️
