I personally think changing a character race or anything about them is erasing rep. Every single oc is some sort of rep with their design, story and race. So yeah its weird, especially if its not your oc

I think so. Especially if they represent a certain culture. The representation is there for a reason so taking it away feels kinda off.

I think it depends on the race being relevant to the character history. For example, I don't care that they casted a black woman as Ariel in the live action because Ariels race doesn't matter, but I do care when they cast a white man to play Heathcliff, because him not being white plays a big part in his story. I dont know if this makes sense 😞

To be honest I don’t find it strange because maybe before you were doing mostly one race out of your comfort zone at that time but it could change and you’re more skilled to try different things now. And maybe your OC feel more accurate if they are different race?

If the race is important to the character then I wouldn't change it. For example, I wouldn't change a white character to poc if the character needs to be white for the story to work. I would however change a white character to poc if it doesn't really matter that they're white, especially if the show/content they're from lacks poc rep. I wouldn't ever change a poc to white though, because even if the character's ethnicity isn't important to the character or to the story, them being visually poc alone is representation and it shouldn't be taken away. White ppl don't need that rep.

if it's a personal OC, do whatever you want. If it's a character from an existing piece of media it depends, if their race is an important part of their character then yes it's not good, if it's not important and if you change it virtually nothing is different except for their appearance I don't see the issue.
