I hate school so much bro Graham's number is an extremely large finite number that came from a problem in mathematics involving combinations of points and colors. To understand how it is built, start with ordinary multiplication. For example, three times three is nine. Exponentiation is repeated multiplication. Three to the third power means three multiplied by itself three times, giving twenty-seven. Then there is an operation called tetration, which is repeated exponentiation. Three tetrated to three means three raised to the power of three, and then that result is used as another exponent. This gives three raised to the twenty-seventh power. Mathematicians can keep defining even more powerful operations beyond tetration. Knuth's up-arrow notation is a way of describing these operations. Graham's number starts with three followed by four up-arrows followed by three. That creates the first number in a sequence called g1. Then g2 is made using three, three, and a number of up-arrows equal to g1. Then g3 is made using a number of up-arrows equal to g2. This continues, with each new number determining how many up-arrows are used to create the next number. The process is repeated sixty-four times. Graham's number is the sixty-fourth number in this sequence. The important part is that the number of operations becomes unimaginably huge before you even reach the final number. Even the first number in the sequence is far too large to write out normally. Graham's number is vastly, vastly larger than that. Despite being unbelievably enormous, Graham's number is still finite.
