I watched another analysis that also pointed out how Michael Caesar in the comics is missing from the animated series. Michael is very similar to Huey in terms of intellect and beliefs, but the main difference between them is that unlike Huey, Michael has hope and optimism and believes that change can be effectuated compared to Huey's cynicism. which is critical because movements and revolutions run on the hope that things can be changed. thus illustrating Huey's flaw that he lacks this optimism. it also illustrates why Michael and Huey are such good friends because they align on these issues and while their approaches are different they ultimately agree on what they're trying to accomplish. honestly makes me wish we'd been able to see Caesar in the show

I always find it interesting how highly people praise Huey Freeman not realizing that he supposed to be just as flawed as Riley. To his knowledge he's the greatest person he can be but to everybody else's knowledge he's just fucking annoying.

Huey is for the thinkers, those who think outside of his shoes and think so far ahead, questions everything infront of him before accepting it, if he accepts it at all, i always found his character very relatable, he’s a very strong and intelligent character misunderstood by his environment but wont let an opinion or misunderstanding of him define him

He just gave up can’t blame him. You as a sole individual can change nothing if the culture you want to change refuses to listen to you or desire said change. I like huey he was always my favorite character since I was a kid

I like how woke Huey was while still written with childish innocence. At the end of the day, Huey is 10 years old. He has big plans and the optimism to pull it off while most adults just crack under pressure thinking about how bleak the future seems.

off topic but i hated how as the progressed granddad got worse. in the beginning he was both like riley and huey, personality appreciation for blqck culture like riley but with morals and integrity for black community like huey, but as time went on he got more like riley, maybe even worse/more annoying, and ended up isolating huey. especially in the revival seasons without mcgruder
