2027: IYABO ANISULOWO "CLEARS THE AIR" ON SENATOR YAYI’S ORIGIN, ALLEGES MONEY POLITICS IN YEWALAND Former Minister Says Yayi "Came Like A Serpent", Accuses Some Monarchs of "Selling Birthright" ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — Former Minister of State for Education and PDP Chieftain, Hon. Iyabo Anisulowo, has waded into the growing debate over the origin and political history of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola "YAYI", saying the Ogun West Senator "has never claimed Ogun State" as his political base until recently. Speaking during a political engagement in Ogun West at the weekend, Mrs. Anisulowo addressed what she called "misinformation" surrounding Senator Yayi’s connection to Yewaland. "HE CAME LIKE A SERPENT" According to her, Senator Yayi only began identifying with Ogun State after building his political career in Lagos. "He didn’t start his politics from Ogun State. He started in Lagos," Mrs. Anisulowo claimed. "He came like a serpent. He has never claimed Ogun as his state." She questioned his presence during key moments in Yewa history. "Where was he when Yewa was still called Egbado and we only had three local governments? Even when we fought the government and got it increased to five, he was nowhere to be found." ALLEGATIONS AGAINST TRADITIONAL RULERS The former lawmaker also took aim at some traditional rulers in Yewaland, alleging that money had influenced their political alignment. "Even Oba Olugbenle was crowned in 2011. Yayi was not there and he didn’t call to congratulate," she said. "But today, he has used money to buy all the kings and they have sold their birthright to Yayi for money." She argued that the role of a king is to be "father to all," not to align with one political camp. ON HER OWN LAGOS CONNECTION Addressing possible counter-arguments about her own background, Mrs. Anisulowo said: "I was born and bred in Lagos. But I have always gone home for development. That is the difference." "HE DOESN'T DESERVE GOVERNOR" Looking ahead to 2027, Mrs. Anisulowo stated that even if Senator Yayi is accepted as an Ogun indigene, his long political history in Lagos disqualifies him from the governorship. "Even if he is from Ogun State, he doesn’t deserve to be our Governor because of his political life in Lagos and all the positions he has held before crossing to Ogun State," she said.
