I keep hearing this...but I have gone weeks without power and ive never lost my water or been unable to flush a toilet. How are these 2 things related?

If you have children and you are filling up your bathtubs with water, make sure you are locking the doors. We want to make sure our children are safe.

When you leave your faucets on a slow drip put a pot or pitcher to collect the water . That is usable water . Fill zipper bags , pots , jars , watering cans etc .

I saw someone suggest to bring some snow inside if possible and let it melt and you can use that water to flush the toilets if needed!

If you’re a woman be sure to also have wet wipes. Luckily I wasn’t on my cycle when we had the horrible storm in Texas ‘21 but it was one of the things I thought of after the fact

Buckets 🪣 of snow can be used to flush toilet. Bathtub water wash dishes & or pitcher of it to sponge bath

Generator (even a small one) and stock up on fuel makes a huge difference. Ice storms are no joke.

Every winter we fill up the tubs when low temps come and it saves us some heartache

My dad always saved our used 2 liter bottles from sodas. He’d fill them with water and save them in the basement and garage. We lived extremely rural and were always the last to get help during these types of events. He always said that a 2 liter is enough to get that toilet to flush.

If toilet doesn't work a bucket with a trash bag in it works and if you fill your tub up with water make sure to keep small children away from the tub.
