@stormsideseb: Stop Thinking You Know Better Then The Damage Surveyors. They Have A Degree, You don’t. #meteorology #tornadotok #edit #tornadoes #educational
Ok but like The NWS doesn’t need the tornadoes windspeeds to be the most precise thing ever. Even if was to be the correct winds, it’s not like there’s a real difference between 200 and 205 mph. Would it really be the end of world if Goldsby was given EF5 and it turned out to be 5mph less? No because it’s an arbitrary rating that will have zero impact on what the tornado. So people aren’t wrong to say mayfield was a EF5 because trying to estimate 190 or 205 mph is impossible to get 100% right.

a home on 212th Street and Cedar Lane that was fully destroyed by the Goldsby tornado should have been rated EF5 though.. theres not much debate necessary.. the same NWS office rated worse-built homes EF5 from the Moore tornado just two years later

Mayfield was most definiitely deserviing of EF5, to argue it with being EF4 is like arguing with enderlin's rating. Mayfield's church is the most conceivable case of mayfield being EF5. Enderlin's rating is complicated, it doesn't have official DIs for an EF5 granting, yet it still got it. For goldsby, the home was essentially built to withstand EF5 windspeeds, but it was hit by a mobile home, so thats the problem as to why Goldsby got demoted.

I agree that we shouldn’t be saying that NWS sucks at their job, but NWS has objectively gotten ratings wrong in the past, and you can’t just ignore that lol.

yeah the enderlin 2025 threw an almost 40 (couldn’t remember, just remember it being in the thirties) tonne train car 400+ feet that shit is NOT going to not be an EF5 and that feat alone was the reason it was rated EF5 😭😭

guys elie tornado Is the stronger Rope.
he Is f5 so he's Wind Speed Is 420-510 and Is the stronger Rope in history, this tornado has 290-318 mph. This give us an import lesson; don't think a weak tornado type Is 100% weak.

90% of ratings maybe, but the NWS isnt always perfect. Pierson, Rozel, and Holmes are prime examples of mistakes in ratings. But i do agree that the ratings arent gonna change. NWS isnt always right but they are like 85-90% right most of the time.
