If you have a concrete driveway you shouldn’t use ice melt. Cat litter is cheaper and safer to the concrete.

North Missouri girl here!! GET A GENERATOR, but if it’s just snow you prolly don’t have too much to worry about with losing power, that’s typically what happens with ice, just make sure you have a shovel!! lol stay safe friend, we are supposed to get snow here too with this storm, enjoy the beautiful scenery with your kids and build a snowman!!

Born and raised in Bflo NY ( now in SE N.C. so now we deal with hurricanes 🥴) it’s best to have a generator it can be hooked up to needed appliances( coffee maker) ( incl furnace) and if you have a FP ( gas / propane) it should have a battery start back up so you can use it … we have a Blackstone so only need propane to cook with we use it in our garage ( gar door open) candles shovels flashlights batteries we have these battery operated lanterns that are super bright and last a long time we got them at Harbour Freight ( snowblower) ice melter ( helps with snow too ) snow scraper/brush for vehicles … have food that doesn’t need to be cooked you can always put your fridge food outside in coolers the snow will help it stay cold … we’ve been in storms where we’ve lost power for over 5+ days … and we were one of the ones affected by a power outage for 5 days in N.C. when our substation was shot out … big news story in 2022. So we’ve even cooked over our fire pit! Keep your fridge door closed as much as possible … stay safe and warm!! 🥰🥰🥰

I live in NJ and we get snow and ice all the time. Make sure you have candles ( I’m sure you do🥰) flashlights and batteries are always good to have on hand. Even glow sticks work and you can just leave those on. Propane heater with extra tanks if the electric goes out and a small generator for the fridge if needed. I’m sure you’ll be fine. 🩷. I love snow ❄️so we’re always ready with those things. Don’t forget to make snow angels 🥰🥰🥰

I live on Cape Ann in MA we are getting this storm also. I bought an oven stuffer chicken to cook. You should have enough for two days. Find out where your emergency shelter is. ( just in case). Make sure all of your phones and laptops are charged. A good movie and cuddle on the couch.

Keep your water faucets at a running drip in your house so your pipes don't freeze! This is the deepest snow we are expected to have in years! Stay off the roads unless you have to venture out!

Things to have. Roof rake, generator, portable chargers, blankets. You can also use sheets to cover any drafty doors or windows.

We used to lose power all the time in MI. I always filled the tub with water and extra pots. We were on a well system. No power no water. Made sure animals had extra food. Candles. Flash lights. Drinking water. Gas in cars.

Get something to seal the seams of bottom and top of doorways. get a generator. Portable propane grill .

Get a sled if you haven’t already, might as well have some fun. Also, take time and take breaks shoveling the snow. Keep knees bent. Also, push the snow with the shovel instead of throwing it and don’t throw it over your shoulder. Stay safe and warm.

if you lose power and you are worried about your food spoiling, take it out of fridge and freezer and put it outside where it is cold. I use laundry baskets lined with trash bag. if you have a pump for your water supply and you lose power, before storm fill bathtub so you have water to flush toilet. stay warm and safe!

your windows are very exposed to the cold. losing heat. do you have propane cooking? I live in Florida we had electric cooking until we lost electricity and we switched to gas stove. love it. take care stay warm.

Do you have a gas fireplace? When our power goes out in West Tennessee we have our gas fireplace. So we close off all the bedrooms and stay toasty in the den. We are going to get ice! 😩
