@yourmoneymatesarah: Personally I think it’s a very unfair system on people who did exactly what they were told to do but have now found themselves in a very challenging job market. #studentloan #studentloans #university #debt

At the very least, education should be free/tax funded.

Student loans are SO quickly brushed over and dismissed & it’s disgusting how much you pay back. You’d have to have a HORRENDOUS credit rating for any other loan to ever be this extortionate.

1st rule of capitalism: make the poor pay twice as much for EVERYTHING! You need a house? Sure, pay 3x of it's value in interest. Need an education? Here you go, pay 10x more than what you took out. The system is broken

100% agree, this was never explained properly to us. The interest starts literally as soon as you start uni not even after you graduated so before you are earning. The interest should also be paused if you are on maternity.

Scrap the interest and backdate the scrapping of the interest. Also scrap the whole loan for those who have a degree which is required to do their role in the NHS after they have worked for the NHS for 5 years.

First of all, university shouldn’t cost almost £10K per year.

University should be free in the UK like it is in many countries. If it’s not free, student loans should have zero interest…education shouldn’t be a profit-making system.

university is a lie . it's a scam. too many students end up in serious debt and end up in jobs that have no relation to the degree they have

Scrap the interest. Always raise the repayment threshold with yearly inflation.

University should be free or cheaper. It's messed up that older people got to go for free or cheap and now people don't. They also should not be charging interest on a student loan. I didn't know when I took that loan out that I'd get charged crazy amounts of interest.

I fully agree! it’s not explained properly and teachers push it as the next logical step for pretty much everyone. If people knew how much 4 years studying was going to cost vs the lifetime average benefit In earning potential for some courses I think they would reconsider.
