@hannahswift.xo: What advice would you give to somebody who is about to become a mum for the first time? 🥰 Hello week 24! #mumtobe #pregnancy #secondtrimester #pregnant #newmum
Oh congratulations!!! My advice is to actually tell people what you need help with! For example, please can you pick me up this for lunch or can you empty the dishwasher for me. People are happy to help but need guidance! And you need to be confident asking!

Staying positive definitely helps! People love to scaremonger about having your first baby and labour . I was so scared about having my first baby because of people doing. But Iv just had my second baby (I have two under two) and I had no ‘birth plan’. the midwives told me it was better to be that way so you wouldn’t get disheartened and stressed if labour didn’t go the way you planned.. you can’t plan how the baby is going so come so I made peace with whatever happens happens and would do whatever I needed to do for me and my baby , I had two very positive and fast labours! but I would definitely recommend reading ‘make your birth better’ book by Siobhan Miller . I really looked forward to Labour after being so anxious leading up to my due date! You’re about to experience the best thing in the world! 🥰❤️

Congratulations on your pregnancy🩷 my advice is to be calm about it and don’t stress yourself planning everything for birth as most people I know turned out to have a completely different outcome including me. Everyone will have a different birth and I believe that not overthinking helps a lot. Do what works for you and your partner not what others suggest because every household is different. Wishing you all the best in your new journey and enjoy every moment ❤

You’ll meet the “just you wait” people. Ignore them 💕

Two books I think should be essential reading for any new parent: matrescence by lucy jones and motherdom by alex bollen!

Becoming a mother is a miracle! But… when you give birth, it can feel like everyone else is moving forward while you’re standing still. It passes very quickly… relax and try to enjoy as much as possible and worry as little as you can. ❤️

You can read & research as much as you want but it’s so very different once labour starts/baby is here. Go with the flow my love & live in the moment. Also, accept the help offered because it can get quite lonely & overwhelming those first few months. Magical but the hardest thing. I’m ALWAYS here! xx

Congratulations! I had the most amazing birth, go into it with an open mind! I wrote down thoughts for my labour like sitting with the baby in our garden with the birds chirping in the background etc etc. Just keep breathing and remember that every contraction is one step closer to the end!

The newborn face is rough. Sleep in shifts with your partner. And just get through it. It will feel like its never ending. But it does in fact end.

ASK for help!!! You don’t have to do everything on your own. Motherhood really is so much easier with a village. Sometimes that looks like someone helping make a meal, sometimes it’s someone watching bub while you go for a walk or take a shower. You’re so so important, it’s going to feel like you put bub first for everything but you are a priority too 🤍
