Inconceivable to me. Each ring has to be opened and closed. Forget the cost of materials and skill to make this - the time spent to handle these materials and do repetitive moments omg the wear and tear on your hands for a few cents is absolutely cruel.

I thankfully didn't get any of these ads, but thanks for confirming that chainmail, like crochet, cannot be machine mass manufactured. If I see chain mail in cosplay stuff I usually look closely to see if it's actually chainmail at all and if it is usually assume it's handmade by the creator, they have invested a lot of money, or have a friend that really loves them and the craft. Disappointing to see at least one creator I've enjoyed some content from supporting such an unethical practice

I make chainmaille myself. the faires that I vend at, there is another vendor who is selling coins for 40 and hauberks for 150. I've asked them to not to have them out when it deeply undercuts my prices

I have been wanting to get into making chainmail pieces for a little while, but I find that it is SO expensive. That being said, does anyone have recommendations for where I can get supplies (preferably in Europe) and I’ll hopefully be able to purchase slowly as I get money lol 😋
