if you use the cat cat fountain right the cat will drink enough water and the filter will get rid of everything that is gross. I've used cat fountains for years. none of them and I mean none of them have looked like that

Put a chunk of copper in your cat fountain and it'll keep the water clear and disinfected for at least a week. still use the charcoal filter though

the water in the back, it will sit and grow mold, better off just filling their bowl everyday, so u know for sure they are truly getting the best.

mine has a filter and i clean it once a week and replace the filters monthly so i’ve never had the issue of it being nasty like that… idk thought that was common knowledge

Honestly I have two with six cats and they drink the water so fast I feel like it doesn’t get dirty like that. I always clean it before filling back up and change the filters regularly too
