@itstimewithtoni: On January 17th, I quietly celebrated one year of sobriety. I was reluctant to share because when people hear “sobriety,” they assume the worst, but I felt it was important to normalize conversations around coping, healing, and choosing a different path. I spent a long time using alcohol to manage anxiety, depression, and social discomfort. What started as “fun” turned into my way of functioning celebrations, date nights, outings with friends, etc. It became how I coped. There’s one moment I’ll never forget: after a night of drinking, God came to me in my sleep and said, “I cannot save you if you continue on this path.” I woke up and felt that in my spirit so heavy. It wasn’t condemnation… it was instruction. It was love. It was a warning and an invitation at the same time. This past year has been about learning healthier ways to cope, deepening my relationship with God, and choosing to feel instead of trying to mask it. I learned I don’t need alcohol to socialize, to celebrate, or to escape. 2026 has already shown me why that decision mattered. I now have clarity, alignment, doors opened that my resume couldn’t, peace, and purpose. I now know God met me where l once and love me enough to not leave me there.
