@deltatrendtrading: Replying to @truevol_ I think this comment suggests a broader hole in retail trading “education,” which instructs traders to focus on single-path outcomes, and binary win/loss statistics like win rate and average RR (which are just about the only two performance statistics you hear retail traders quote on social media). Retail traders are taught to consider collapsed information naively, as opposed to considering distributions and working from there. It’s almost like that daytrading lifestyle influencer doesn’t want you to know how to validate whether a strategy works mathematically… 🤔 #daytrading #finance #quantfinance #quant

Of course they don’t want to validate strategies. Their whole system would fall apart. They just want to highlight their wins and their account balances. If they had ACTUAL high sharpe strategies that had a high cap then they’d have a fund

What do you think about trading order flow along with certain “ict concepts” that have actual value used as a way to make the data easier to visualize on the charts where you’re actually placing the trades?

Gotta agree with Thomas here. Returns not being normal doesn’t make distributions useless — it just means you shouldn’t assume Gaussian ones. Structural or regime-based strategies still generate empirical distributions of outcomes, drawdowns, and tail risk. Ignoring those is how people confuse a narrative edge with a statistical one.”

I recently 10x’d an account intraday scalping xauusd toward VWAP, entering and exiting using standard deviation levels. I understand these are ridiculous returns and will not continue, but is the strategy valid?
