@wcecreations: Weird road side attraction in central Illinois! Two story outhouse in Gays IL! Couldn’t go inside but had a bunch of info on the board outside! Also as you can see I actually loved this random arch across the street! The two-story outhouse features discreetly placed upper and lower holes on opposite sides, with an inset wall creating a hidden chute so waste drops unseen—if not unheard. Built by Samuel Gammill behind his general store, it was connected to upstairs apartments by a short ramp, giving 19th-century tenants a private indoor-style bathroom. Though the store was demolished in 1984, the outhouse was preserved after being promoted as a tourist attraction since the 1960s. Today it stands in a small park, maintained thanks to Gene Goodwin, a village board president who championed its preservation and is commemorated by the park’s name.
