Hypotelorism is a congenital, rare craniofacial abnormality characterized by an abnormally close spacing of the eyes, defined by an interpupillary distance more than 2 SD below the mean. It is usually a symptom of an underlying condition, most commonly holoprosencephaly (a brain development defect) or chromosomal anomalies like trisomy 13.
