I have this experience with an avoidant person, a friend. I sometimes have anxiety, and that’s because I was strongly emotionally attached to him. We opened up to each other, at least partially, and that convinced me that he would be a genuine friend — but he wasn’t. After several days of conversations, he then withdrew, his replies took several days, and it caused me terrible anxiety: pressure in my chest, I cried, I didn’t understand what was happening or what I had done wrong. And when I asked him what was going on and suggested that we should talk about it, he turned it all against me — saying he was tired of messaging, that he had too much work, and that I should socialize more. I invest my energy in people who value me.
