@yusufthehanif: Allāh the Exalted said: “[This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allāh and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the Mushrikīn.” [Sūrat At-Tawbah: 1] Explanation: 9216 — Aḥmad ibn ʿUthmān informed us, in what he wrote to me: Aḥmad ibn al-Mufaḍḍal narrated to us; Asbāṭ narrated to us, from as-Suddī, regarding His statement: “[This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allāh and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the Mushrikīn.” [Sūrat At-Tawbah: 1] He said: When this Āyah was revealed, He declared Himself free from the covenant of every Mushrik, and after it He did not make a covenant except with those who already had a covenant; and He assigned to every people their fixed term.
