I’m glad they pointed out that the doctor smiling, and laughing was likely having a traumatic response. I am a nurse and I often find myself laughing at horrible things. My social worker told me it’s automatic response to try to protect myself from the shocking thing I just heard or saw

I give so much credit to docs, nurses, and police. They see so much and (usually) are the most calm and gentle people despite the sadness and traumatic scenes. There's a special place in hell for parents that hurt babies and their children.
