رستمِ زماں گاما پہلوان (غلام محمد) نے اپنی زندگی کے آخری ایام انتہائی عسرت، بیماری اور کٹھن حالات میں گزارے۔ 1947ء میں تقسیمِ ہند کے بعد وہ لاہور منتقل ہو گئے اور پیر مکی (راوی روڈ) کے قریب رہائش پذیر ہوئے۔ بیماری اور مالی مشکلات عمر کے آخری حصے میں وہ دل کے عارضے اور گردوں کی بیماری میں مبتلا ہو گئے تھے۔ معالجین نے انہیں مہنگی ادویات، مقوی غذا اور مستقل علاج کا مشورہ دیا، لیکن مالی وسائل ختم ہو جانے کے باعث وہ علاج اور دیکھ بھال کا خرچ اٹھانے سے قاصر ہو گئے۔ اپنے دور کے اس عظیم اور نا قابلِ شکست پہلوان کو اپنی دوائیوں اور خوراک کے لیے اپنی ٹرافیاں اور تمغے تک فروخت کرنے پڑے۔ سراRule / حکومتی مدد جب ان کی شدید مالی تنگی اور معذوری کی خبریں اخبارات میں شائع ہوئیں، تو حکومت اور مداحوں کی توجہ اس طرف مبذول ہوئی: * حکومتِ پاکستان: حکومتِ پاکستان نے ان کے علاج معالجے کے لیے ماہانہ وظیفہ اور طبی اخراجات کے لیے فنڈ مقرر کیا۔ * صنعتی و کاروباری شخصیات: ہندوستان اور پاکستان کے کئی مداحوں اور صنعتکاروں (بشمول جی ڈی برلا) نے بھی ان کی مالی معاونت کی پیشکش کی۔ * طبی امداد: انہیں لاہور کے میو ہسپتال میں داخل کرایا گیا جہاں ان کا طویل علاج چلا۔ وفات طویل علالت کے بعد 23 مئی 1960ء کو 82 برس کی عمر میں یہ عظیم پہلوان لاہور میں انتقال کر گیا۔ انہیں لاہور کے پیر مکی قبرستان میں سپردِ خاک کیا گیا۔
