You can literally tell how any encounter with a cop is going to go within the first 30 seconds. There is literally no reason for them to not identify themselves and tell you why they are contacting you right from the start unless if course they are egotistical tyrants that think they can do or say whatever they want and you have to obey them. One of a cops favorite things to say when they DO NOT HAVE A LEGAL REASON TO STOP YOU is "in this day and age". Well the reality is that in this day and age people are learning what their rights are and what the actual laws are! When a cop says something like "in this day and age" or "heres the deal" cut them off, repeat what ever tired phrase they tried using on you, and then set them straight on your rights and the laws. (They absolutely hate that because it shatters their fragile inflated egos)
