I had a therapist (who I was seeing for my own stuff) tell me, upon learning my oldest is nonbinary, make the focus of our session my kid, despite me saying I wasn’t there because of them. The counselor suggested my child is autistic. It was my first and last session with that counselor, who assumed the root of my problems was my teenager’s gender. 🙄
