@ashleyt.rd: If histamine keeps flaring, food isn’t the root cause. Your body is struggling to clear histamine. these are some root causes I see most often👇 1️⃣ Sluggish liver & impaired detox pathways Your liver plays a huge role in histamine and hormone clearance. When detox pathways are overwhelmed: • Histamine isn’t broken down efficiently • Estrogen gets recirculated • Immune activation increases 2️⃣ MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) Mast cells release histamine as part of your immune response. With MCAS, these cells are over-reactive, releasing histamine too easily. Triggers can include: • Stress & nervous system dysregulation • Infections & chronic inflammation • Hormone fluctuations • Environmental exposures 3️⃣ Gut dysbiosis & intestinal inflammation Your gut can either regulate histamine or create more of it. • Certain bacteria produce histamine • Inflammation increases histamine absorption • SIBO, parasites, yeast, or infections raise histamine load A healthy microbiome should help you tolerate foods, not react to everything. 4️⃣ Hormonal imbalances (especially estrogen dominance) Histamine and estrogen have a bi-directional relationship 🔁 • Estrogen increases histamine release • Histamine stimulates more estrogen This creates a vicious cycle! Why a low histamine diet alone isn’t the answer… It may calm symptoms temporarily, but it doesn’t address why histamine is high, and long-term restriction often worsens nutrient depletion and tolerance. #histamineintolerance #estrogendominance #detox #rootcausehealing #figpartner

I’ve gotten blood work back last year and it says I have low liver enzymes? Could that be an issue with histamines? My histamine intolerance shows up through eczema

Mcas and histamine intolerance are two different things. Like saying gluten intolerance and celiac are the same. Mcas is immune disorder where mast cells release excessive inflammatory chemicals, including histamine, causing widespread and unpredictable symptoms across multiple body systems. Histamine intolerance, on the other hand, is mainly a digestive or metabolic issue where the body cannot properly break down histamine from foods, leading to symptoms usually triggered by eating high-histamine foods. While both conditions involve histamine and can cause similar reactions, MCAS is driven by abnormal immune cell activation diagnosed by allergist and doesn’t cure with antihistamines whereas histamine intolerance is primarily a problem with processing dietary histamine and does great with otc meds and diet changes.

Waaaaaaiiiiiit… I have a sluggish gallbladder (biliary dyskinesia) and high histamine foods setttttt my digestive system off. Can those be tied together? I’m not feeling like I want to get my gallbladder removed as the doctor suggested as I feel like there has to be ways to support/help it naturally

I know mine is mainly due to chronic stress and gut issues. Any thoughts where I go because Dr says I’m fine.

So my hands/palms/knuckles itch at night. If I take Zyrtec it stops. This is a histamine response, right?
