@byraheru: Redesigned by Yoshio Taniguchi and reopened in 2019, the Okura Hotel lobby stays true to the spirit of the original 1962 modernist icon. Instead of loud luxury, everything here is about restraint — proportion and the Japanese idea of ma (間), the space between things. The low ceiling, warm tones from the keyaki wood, soft lighting, and the iconic hexagonal lantern are all meant to slow you down. Even the tables and chairs are intentional, arranged in a subtle plum blossom (ume) inspired form, adding a quiet cultural layer rather than decoration. I was lucky enough to be here for work, I sat at the lobby to observe this beautiful masterpiece for a good hour 😩💫 #architecture #interiordesign #japan #design #fyp
