I put 5w-30 in mine a quiet sit down and I really don't see no difference in gas mileage the gas mileage stuff if it sucks just a little bit more who cares the engine's last noisy

I just picked up a brand new Silverado 6.2 by the time I got to my workshop it had 142 kilometres on it, the first thing I did was drop the oil and put a 5w30 in it. I’m in Australia and it’s going to be 44c - 111f degrees here. If fuel economy worries you buy something else

I used to believe they tightened up oil clearances when they went to light oils but back in the day when I was working on cars, engines like the ford 3.8l,3.0l and I think the 4.2l, all called for 5w20 and when you did an oil change they sounded like the bearing clearance was 1/2 an inch, man those things sounded horrible on the first start of an lof but they were good engines for the most part. The 3.0l and the 3.8 would run for ever

I do the same in my ford 5,4 ... calls for 5w20 I run 5 w 30 engine sounds alot quieter don't care about the fuel milage

I used 5W30, 5w20 and 0w20 in my 2003 ES300. The cap says 5W30. I didn't notice any appreciable difference other than it running quieter on 5w30.

I did the same thing I have a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road My oil takes 020 I switched over to 5W30 extra protection I put Pennzoil platinum 5/30 and my Tacoma TRD off-road I did in my 2011 Toyota Camry Pennzoil high mileage full synthetic 5W30 works great

I run 5w-30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in my 2023 4Runner and 2018 Tacoma. Both engines love that oil! Super quiet and noticeably smoother! I will never go back to 0w-20

5w30 is better for the bearings. ow-20 will break down with the heat and its like running water.

I switched my 05 5.3 to 10-30, cold start whine in these temps. should I switch back to 5-30 in winter? I switched to help lifter tick after cam/lifter over haul, oil pump too. she sounds fine after a decent warm up.

Switching from 5W20 to 5W30 cut down oil consumption for me. Went from adding half a quart every 3000 miles to not having to add anything.

400K on my 4Runner / 5W-30 zero engine / transmission repairs to date. Been testing the RAV4 hybrid. Finding extensive file dilution. Testing 5W-30 in that platform now.

After I switched to 5w30 Penzoil ultra platinum, numerous people said needing to change to a higher rated oil purifier. I just ignore them and let it think what they want to. SMH 🤦

Rich can we address how junk these new cars are, my friends injectors are going out at 90,000 miles on a 2019 Honda CR-V with the 1.5 engine. Costs like $3,000 parts and labor to fix because the parts are special order and the injectors are hard to reach

I use 5w40 Euro in my 2018 F150 with the coyote. Runs just fine and way quieter. Very little gas mileage loss

There are mechanics that say it depends on the engine, Rich. Some of these engines have really really small oil passages that can restrict the thicker oil in cold weather. Go argue with them.

2018 Sierra 6.2, switched from 0w20 mobil1 to 5w30 ultra platinum and lifter tick went away and noticed no difference in mpg

My understanding is when 0W-20 shears out of grade it loses protection much faster than 5W-30 that sheared out of grade. If you run too long of intervals or run your vehicle hard 5W-30 can help. If you just drive to work and keep the interval like 3,000 or so miles so the oil stays in grade and you’re fine with 0W-20. That’s what my understanding is. 5W-30 has no ill effects that I’ve heard other than a small mileage impact.
