Steph :
My FAVORITE thing in the world to do is travel with my husband and two kids on the cheap. I've been to New York solo a dozen times (staying with friends or in hostels) and not spent a ton of money. For our family trip, I have us taking the Uber shared shuttle from JFK to our air bnb in Brooklyn ($734 for 4 nights, 4.9 rating, don't come for me about the price vs. quality, it's a great deal) which is right next to the subway ($34 max per person over a 7 day period). I found a 90 minute Statue of Liberty/Brooklyn Bridge boat tour on Groupon for $47 for all four of us, not pp. We are going to Central Park, World Trade, Soho, and canal street. We plan to see a game at Citi Field, that will be our most expensive experience (but that's why we're going to NY anyway). We'll likely do one nice dinner, but we're more than ok with pizza slices, sabrett dogs, bagel carts, packing our own snacks, or even cooking at our airbnb. YOU CAN TRAVEL WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK. PS we're also visiting Boston and Toronto on this trip and will spend less than 5K for all three cities over 10 days.
