Cali pays the most. Tips need to be divided out to the back of the house

The servers are putting on a performance. It’s a lot of hard work. We have to balance many different things, including tables, orders, customers, bosses bus boys, and still make sure our tables are happy. There’s a reason why the servers make more than the back of the house and I’m kind of surprised. I have to tell you that.

if the cook doesn’t like it he/she can work front of house

Anyone can cook once trained, being a server is something I imagine, is something only 1/3 of people could do

Guess what if servers start to make same, service is going to go downhill, because if servers go above and beyond is because they know they rely on tips!

Strong believer in my servers tipping out because they did not put in 100% of the work. Hard for people to understand that. Really wish that I could change the tip line to show the customers choice of distribution on the tip out

One of the reasons why more restaurants are starting to include BOH in tip pool. Creates better teamwork and communication between boh and foh. Also, the restaurant saves on labor by paying boh slightly less than the average hourly wage, but the employee gains more than the average through tips.

Its very fair. BOH chose to be BOH. If they want to make what FOH makes then they should switch to FOH! I make $50 an hour as a server and I don’t know one restaurant that could pay that hourly.

we need to go back to the tip credit in this state. There’s no reason for a bus boy or a waiter or a captain to make $20 per hour plus tips then these people could be working four hours and making $300-$400.

it's because you developed a system for profit that meant servers were working for tips so you made more money now local minimum wage laws pay servers more your back house staff are now paying the price for your industries past bad behaviour

the difference between 16 and 24 is huge but the sixteen is splitting their tips with the 24 🤔.. the problem with the splitting tips with the kitchen is when a customer hands a tip they feel that's all going in that person's pocket when it's divided up to multiple people

And it’s the owner’s responsibility to pay their employees accordingly, you think the back of the house deserves more it needs to come out of the restaurants, not taking from the servers.

It’s like asking why a heart surgeon makes more money than the nurses, it takes a special kind of person to be a good server, I was one for 12 + years and made more money than the manager 😂
