This!! You can spot a systems thinker since childhood. Usually the kids who ask a lot of questions”how” questions rather than why but also why. Depending on the reason for knowledge attainment. Most children as they grow up stop thinking in systems because they’re trained to just accept things for face value, others push past it and take it with them into adulthood. Those are the people who more so often become researchers, scientists, analysts, engineers, mechanics, psychologists, chefs etc. it’s not rare either. In my opinion at least. When people can see that the world and our inner selves is built on systems, systems thinking is now not rare but more about metacognition. This one is what I think is not as common. To see yourself, your own patterns, to see where things originate, why they’re there, how they started, discerning, and making choices based on value.
