@jeansthoughts: Since this is the year of the Odyssey let’s talk about sirens, how they are actually depicted in Greek mythology, and how their image has changed. I’m actually super curious how the sirens are going to be portrayed in Christopher Nolan’s film. Has there been any early screenshots? This is interesting. It makes sense that they’d be birds since birds sing. The Odyssey itself has no physical description of them, you are expected to already know what they are

I either read/heard somewhere that it was because they're described as singing on the rocks beside the water and people have just made the association with being water creatures then mermaids. again, not sure where I picked that up but I can see the logic
