@downtoinvest: What to Do With Your 401k After Leaving Your Job 💼 Rollover IRA vs Roth IRA Leaving your job and wondering what to do with your 401k? Rolling over your 401k to an IRA gives you options, but understanding the tax implications is crucial! Keep like money with like money: Pre-tax 401k funds should typically go to a traditional IRA or rollover IRA to maintain that tax-deferred status. Roth 401k money moves to a Roth IRA to keep your tax-free growth intact. Roth conversion strategy: Want to convert to Roth but don't want a massive tax bill for doing it all at once? Do Roth conversions little by little! Converting small amounts from your rollover IRA to a Roth IRA each year spreads out the taxes over time, helping you manage your tax bracket strategically. Important: Rolling over to an IRA isn't your only option when changing jobs. Education only - not financial advice. Consult with a qualified financial advisor and tax professional for your specific situation. Keywords: 401k rollover options, what to do with 401k after leaving job, rollover IRA vs traditional IRA, Roth IRA conversion, 401k to IRA transfer, Roth conversion strategy, 401k rollover tax implications, old 401k options, incremental Roth conversions, retirement account rollover #TikTokLearningCampaign #LearnOnTikTok

Why not just do a rollover? Pre-tax contributions can go to a traditional IRA, and Roth contributions to a Roth IRA. There wouldn’t be any taxable events triggered this way.

Thank you for this info my mom wants to retire this year at 57yo. She would like to keep her 401K (blended) with her old employer. A pro that is if you are over 55 you can withdraw penalty free :). I’m switching jobs currently is there pros vs cons rolling into my new employer vs my personal account?

I have an old 403b as a "Roth Elective Deferral". Could I still move it to a Roth IRA?

Does it make money faster moving it to one account vs leaving the one in one place and starting a new Roth and just build that one?
