“No tax on overtime”. Being taxed at the straight time rate for overtime hours work is still being taxed on overtime 🤦♂️

It's honestly still a rip off because people thought anything over 40 hours per week was going to be tax free. I'm a Trump supporter but this is not really helping many people as they were hoping. A flat rate tax % across the board for everyone would be the best option no matter how much money people make!

Payroll Professional here. We are told it is not required to put on the w2 for 2025 because it is a "transition year". An estimate of the amount is fine and companies are reporting it on box 14 as a courtesy. However, 2026 IRS is telling companies they must show the OT exemption wages ytd summary somewhere in the payroll system and it will show on box 12 on 2026 w2. When you calculate the OT exempt wages, you don't simply divide your ytd OT by 3. You have to figure out your OT over 40 hours in a work week. After you figure that out, then that's when you divide amount by 3. I know CA have OT/DT but they are only looking at OT >40+ hours in a work week

Ummm, your premium amount is absolutely on your paystub. Take your total overtime, divide by 3.

Is this how much you should get back? If you made $20k in OT and divide by 33% you get about 7k. We get that back?

my employer put that dollar amount in box 14, however it was less than the premium 0.5 amount listed on my last payroll check for 2025.
