Mexico City is filled with the light Mexicans that pride themselves on having white heritage. The Mexicans in the US are usually the ones that are brown and are a BIT more excepting but they're still colorist too...

I’m sorry that you experienced that and I’m sorry about people dismissing what you lived through in the comments of your other video. Every time a BW comes on here to share a negative travel story people (including other BW) are so quick to say “Well that never happened to me” or “Maybe it was just” like we asked or like we can’t read a room. It’s so annoying lol.

Exactly. You can tell the difference between a stare of admiration versus negative or ulterior motives. I am glad you didn’t let this ruin your trip and thankful you are sharing because nothing is worse than being gaslit on top of weird treatment. Enjoy Paris sis it’s really where it’s at!

also I only felt unsafe once with an uber driver, he was extremely rude for no reason but other than that it was fine. There were really nice people but it did not outweigh the weird shit.

There’s a lot of things to unpack in Mexico. I would say racism is there but low on the list. You do have colorism, classism, curiosity (morbid, uneducated, excited), black people are not common except for specific parts of Mexico. In most provinces around the country we also consider Mexico City residents rude (Mexicos sort of NYC for the US). Hope you have better experiences!

You also have to take into account that you’re American aka a gringa. Regardless of race they will be a certain way with you. Even Mexican Americans are looked at weird and not usually welcomed plus classism is huge in MX
