@kylanhe: Autism doesn’t fail society. Society breaks autistic people until they “fit,” then calls the damage functioning #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #Masking #Neurodiversity #DisabilityJustice
Breaking the plate symbolises for me you are breaking the person to fit into what societies expectations of you should be and that is what is wrong.

this makes me so sad. I have 2 sons with autism. recently the teacher was telling me how the kids complain about some of the things he does. Like his hand movements and other little things. they will complain about him. I wouldn't change a thing about him but apparently other want him to change 💔

But you know, everything is a compromise. My 24-year-old autistic son has told me why he can't look people in the eye… He can't really hear/pay attention to what they're saying if he does. It's overwhelming. So the hell with eye contact. On the other hand he mumbles and speak so quickly and softlythat the average person can't understand him and ultimately will not pay attention to him. This is awful for someone who wants to connect with people. So yes to speech therapy and nagging him to enunciate. I love your visual analogy here, but it does not tell the whole story of why parents sometimes make a big deal about correcting some autistic habits.

Unpopular winners opinion. Even kids with autism can learn to function without masking

Dear Society,
I will not be breaking my baby to fit into your container. What I will do is love hi. and learn him. I will teach him how to navigate society without breaking, understanding how to survive the toxic environment. I will.let him know the world is testing but good can be found. I will teach him how to love others but above all to love God and himself. He will know that he is unique just like everyone else is unique. he will know how amazing he is.
He will know he is perfect and nothing is broke in him.

So schaut's aus merke es jeden Tag. Bei meinem Sohn. Warum tut er das warum ist der so? wir müssen nicht alle gleich sein, trotzdem sollten wir gut miteinander leben können.

So very true. I was broken so many times just to fit in and fail that I prefer solitude. Secretly I still wish I could fit in and be accepted.

Why should people with autism always be the ones who have to adjust, when society can choose to be aware and accepting of the reality that autism exists? What they truly need is love, understanding, and compassion. I have a nephew with autism, and I hope the world learns to accept him the way we do—because he is a human being, just like everyone else.

I’ve never been diagnosed, I have two little ones that have though. The amount of times I’ve been told to sit still (leg bouncing, fidgeting with part of my shirt or pants) and the amount of times I’ve been yelled at by my mom and by friends to make eye contact especially during interviews. I’ve never been able to, when I’m talking to someone, especially during an interview, I end up looking away and around the room

A mi me rompieron, pero con los años me recosntrui de nuevo y aprendí a que me la suda la sociedad hablando pronto y mal, ahora soy yo misma y me da exactamente igual lo que me digan 🙂
